3 ATB. A substantial piece in two fugal sections. Organ music transcribes very well onto 3 instruments and this piece is no exception. At first sight it looks rather difficult but the suggested speed is quite slow!

Three Fantasias

Byrd, William

3 ATB. Byrd's short three-part fantasias, originally for viols, are a marvel of imitative invention using small-scale resources. This new edition makes life easy for recorder players, avoiding the changing of instruments, playing 'up the octave' and dealing with out-of-range notes, found in editions designed primarily for viol players. All three fantasias fit nicely on treble, tenor and bass recorders; a particular treat is to play them on bass, great bass and contrabass.
